Compass Partnership of Schools
The Compass Partnership of Schools

The Compass Partnership is a ‘soft federation’ of seven primary schools in the Royal Borough of Greenwich who work very closely together to raise standards of provision and attainment for nearly 2000 children. Our schools are Willow Dene School, Deansfield Primary School, Horn Park Primary School, Halstow Primary School, South Rise Primary School, Wingfield Primary School and Alderwood Primary School. Our schools are at the heart of very contrasting communities and achieve highly regardless of context.  We have a shared vision and set of values that underpin all that we do, with a central focus on creative, innovative and engaging teaching that develops a love and interest in learning. We craft meaningful contexts for learning that actively engage children in rich dialogic tasks that develop key skills for independence, confidence and resilience.

The Compass group started life as a partnership arrangement between Deansfield Primary and Willow Dene School in June of 2011. The headteacher of Deansfield became the executive headteacher of both schools and oversaw the improvements that needed to made at Willow Dene. As a result of the tremendous success of the partnership and the rapid transformation at Willow Dene, the partnership extended to South Rise School in February 2012, Horn Park in April 2013, Halstow in September 2014, and Wingfield and Alderwood in September 2015.

The Compass Partnership Leadership team consists of:

We all work closely together to drive the development of provision across the seven schools. We have designed and lead our own senior and middle leadership programmes and have also developed a bespoke NQT programme that supports new teachers in our schools. We work in partnership with Interface Space and the West London University Business School to run our own MA programme and also host the Greenwich Teaching for Learning Programme. We are passionate about research and engage widely with current thinking and theory to support us in ensuring we are always learning from evidence of what works.

Our vision is for our children to value learning as a creative endeavour that underpins their aspirations for great futures and to ensure that we are all focused on seeing the opportunities and believing that anything is possible.
